Dream Today, Tomorrow Depends On It

By Gerald S. Sikazwe

Life as you see it today, all that is in it, is a result of thoughts, ideas and wishes of people alive or long dead. It is aspirations that have shaped life and influenced how the world appears and how it is eventually seen. From a single man’s dream today the world has a telephone thus simplifying and improving communication in life. From a single man’s dream the radio was created, a type-writer was invented, a bulb was made, as are many other scientific, technological, sociological contributions that have been made to the world. In other words, it is dreams; ideas, wishes, thoughts that color life and shape it. We cannot overlook the important role dreams or aspirations have in life, neither can we over-emphasize it. Simply put, dreams are the blocks by which life is constructed and by which the world is designed.

The future is dependent upon the nature of our dreams, whether they be change-inspiring dreams or whether they be faulty and stagnating dreams. Tomorrows are made possible through dreams that are conceived today. It is therefore a responsibility of everyone alive to ensure they contribute to the shaping of the future through the conceiving of quality dreams and their eventual realization. What tomorrow will look like or even be is up to us. How well life will be tomorrow is determined by the types of dreams, their quality in terms of how beneficial they are and the actions we accompany them with. If your dreams do not contribute improvement to the status-quo, then surely they are stagnating the status of the world and life at large. It is therefore time to dream dreams that are to impact life and the world greatly.

Now is not time to slumber or sleep long and hard, it is rather time to put our minds to use. To Command our minds to seek solutions to problems we face, problems that hinder us from achieving success. It is time for us to design techniques of effectively attaining success, of effectively achieving better results in our endeavors, to also improve the world around us and ourselves. However, this is not possible if we dare not dream but just let life roll passed us. We should be in the habit of dreaming because dreams put us in control of what happens in our lives and in the world. It grants us an opportunity to actively take part in the building of our future. Therefore, if we are to impact the world we must dare to dream, and dream really big.

Each time you look around you, you are presented with the life bare, naked to your eyes, openly showing its frailty and charm, its deficiencies and potentials. Everywhere around you the world is clearly presented, putting you in charge of its fate through your actions or inactions, your thoughts filled with hope or those immersed in fear. Tomorrow is a day that you have control over, in the sense that it is a product of your dreams and eventual actions. Dreams act as a guide, they forecast where you are headed. If you avoid them, you probably end up anywhere or with anything. Therefore to have a bettered tomorrow, we are to dream dreaming big.

No matter how impossible it seems, dream and work hard to realize it. In fact the more impossible it seems the bigger it is and more necessary. Mind you there are so many things that were deemed impossible that have been carried out and now color the world, the time we live in requires no ordinary dreams, its problems cannot be solved simply but smartly by those who dream bigger. Dare to dream and dream really big.

Dream today, tomorrow depends on it!
